The JIB is delighted to welcome Paul Corby as its new independent Chairman.

Paul, who took up his post on 1st January 2012, has outlined his vision for the JIB and his thoughts on the key issues affecting the industry in a message to members that will soon be published in the 2012 JIB Handbook.

You can also read the message via the JIB website.

Send us your good news!

Pick up a paper these days and you’re hit by a blizzard of gloomy news. You just can’t seem to avoid it, so we are aiming to buck the trend and bring a bit of good news into our e-newsletter.

If you’ve got a good news story, maybe it’s success in a new market you’ve been working to break into, a significant new order, training achievements of your staff or great feedback from your customers. Whatever the good news, please email us with the details, we’d love to hear from you and if we publish your story we’ll add a brief feature on your company.

Since success breeds success, you never know where your good news may lead!

Update to redundancy pay limit

From 1st February 2012 the limit on a week’s pay set by the government for calculating redundancy pay rises from £400 per week to £430 per week.

HMRC to launch tax campaign

Electricians will soon be warned by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) that they should pay any undisclosed taxes.

Under a special time-limited tax opportunity, the Electricians Tax Safe Plan, they can pay the tax they owe and receive lower penalties than if they failed to come forward at all and HMRC caught up with them.

The campaign launches in February and full details will soon be on the HMRC website. From there, electricians have until 15 May to notify HMRC that they plan to make a voluntary tax disclosure.

We'll update you in the next e-newsletter to keep you informed.

New JIB Handbook coming soon

Keep an eye out for the new JIB handbook which is currently in production and will be distributed in February. Each member company will be sent one copy; if you would like additional copies they are available at £9 each (saving money on the standard price of £12 to non-members).

If you're a member and would like to purchase additional copies please email Yasmin Sharif with your details.
